The Anthropology Department recognizes students on the Dean's List, inductees to Lambda Alpha, and those with outstanding senior theses along with those awarded the Ed Jelks Award and the Martin Nickels Scholarship. Submission details can be found on each scholarship application form.
Study Abroad Scholarship
The Sociology/Anthropology Dept. has a Study Abroad Scholarship available to undergraduates majoring in Sociology or Anthropology, and have been accepted to a study abroad program. For Fall 2017 travel, you will need to fill out the online application by March 24rh. The minimum award will be $500.
Dr. Ed Jelks was awarded a lifetime achievement award at the 2010 annual meeting of the Illinois Archaeological Survey. Outstanding seniors who have achieved academic excellence and participate in the Society of Student Anthropologists or other endeavors are given an award in his honor.
The Martin Nickels Scholarship
The Martin Nickels Scholarship is a $750 scholarship intended to help undergraduate students pay for field school experiences. The 2017 application deadline for this scholarship is due April 14th, 2017
The Wib Leonard Scholarship
The Wib Leonard Scholarship is an annual award of $500 to a student majoring in sociology or anthropology who shows competence and passion for the quantitative side of either discipline.
Sociology or Anthropology major at Illinois State University
Junior or Senior in good standing with a 3.25 cumulative GPA or higher
Applicants must submit a 1-2 page essay explaining their passion for the quantitative side of sociology or anthropology
The 2017 deadline for this scholarship is due March 31st, 2017
