Research Interests:

Children and Youth, Global and Transnational Sociology, Family, Aging/Social Gerontology, Sex and Gender.  Disadvantaged Children in the U.S. and worldwide, Family Boundary Complexity, Stepfamily Relationships, Intergenerational Relationships, Kinship.


Education:

Maria Schmeeckle received her Ph.D. in sociology and her graduate certificate in gender studies from the University of Southern California in 2001. Her dissertation explored adult children’s perceptions of family membership with stepfamily, former stepfamily, and biological family members.
