Social Aspects of Aging

Social Aspects of Aging studies the aging process. It takes a close look at the social, cultural, and biological aspects of aging.

As a Social Aspects of Aging student at Illinois State, you'll focus on all the issues and problems that come later in life. You'll also look at the aging process throughout a lifespan and see how aging is shaped by many factors, including:

• Social circumstances
• Historical and political consequences
• Culture
• Organizational effects, such as work history

Our program is interdisciplinary. This means you'll take classes from several different areas around campus. This gives you an engaging and well-rounded learning experience.

You'll get plenty of hands-on opportunities with our program. All Social Aspects of Aging students get to complete an internship where you can apply what you learn in the classroom to the real world.
