Adlai E. Stevenson II Center for Community and Economic Development
The Adlai E. Stevenson II Center for Community and Economic Development helps fulfill Illinois State University's mission of creating the most supportive and productive community possible to serve the citizens of Illinois and beyond. Dr. Frank Beck (Associate Professor of Sociology) is the current Director of the center, which provides individualized attention to students, research opportunities for faculty, and service to communities around the globe.
Latin American and Latino/a Studies
The Latin American and Latino Studies program is central to the university's mission to promote an understanding and appreciation for diverse cultures and communities. Dr. Maura Toro-Morn (Professor of Sociology) is the Director of the program, which seeks to stimulate and facilitate instruction, research, and outreach activities related to Latin American, the Caribbean, and Latino communities in the United States. It enhances any major and prepares students to be fully engaged participants in a global society.
Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies
The Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program is a multidisciplinary community of scholars committed to a transformative analysis of gender as it intersects with class, sexuality, race, ethnicity, ability, age, nationality, and transnationality. Alison Bailey (Professor of Philosophy) directs the program. Our affiliated faculty are engaged in innovative and collaborative scholarship, teaching, and service that promote new knowledge and socially responsible activism.
